As fall approaches, the monarchs “butter-fly” away before the weather turns cold! Before they migrate to Central Mexico, you have a good chance of spotting them dancing around the Lantana in the Pollinator Garden on the SoPac Trail.

This project was spearheaded by Master Gardener, Maggie Saucedo as a collaboration between the Friends of the SoPac Trail and the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department. Most of the plants were purchased from Texas Discovery Garden except for a few donated by neighbors from their gardens. Maggie secured most of the funding for purchase of the plants by successfully applying for two Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) Bring Back the Monarch grants. The remaining plants were purchased with funds raised by Friends of the SoPac Trail.

The garden is located right off the trail by Mockingbird Ln. If you are at The Ridgewood Trail Fisher Road Crossing, head down the ramp onto the SoPac Trail and make a right. The garden will be a short walk and will be on your right hand side.
