My Dallas Trail Story:

Hitting the Trails on Group Rides

3 years ago, I bought a bike and hit the trails. Then I bought another bike… and another. Then I had my husband on a bike, and soon our toddler had one as well.

My name is Kate (@kstipp), and this is My Dallas Trail Story.

Dallas has so many fantastic trails, but what truly makes this alternative form of transportation remarkable is how these trails connect PEOPLE and COMMUNITIES. The Loop Dallas’ tagline, “Connecting Dallas to Dallas,” perfectly captures the essence of the trail story I want to share.

As a newbie cyclist, I wanted to learn how to navigate the city on two wheels. So, like any good millennial, I joined Facebook groups. After silently stalking posts and events for a while, I made the real-world plunge and went on some group rides. At first, I was nervous about riding alongside seasoned cyclists, but everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and supportive. Through these rides, I discovered new parts of the city, explored new trails, found hidden gems of restaurants, coffee shops and even art galleries, and met some of the nicest people.

The Loop Dallas is all about increasing access to our city and fostering connections among people and communities. If you want to see your city in a new way, there are countless amazing groups you can connect with. Whether you’re into cycling, running, walking, nature, or skating, there’s a group for you.

So, instead of sharing my favorite trail or route, I want to share some of my favorite cycling groups. If you’re curious about the trails and want to explore them with some incredible people, I encourage you to reach out, join a group ride and start creating your own Dallas trail stories!
