We are excited to announce The Loop Dallas has been selected as a finalist for midsize Organization of the Year in D CEO’s Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards! In partnership with Communities Foundation of Texas, D CEO recognizes exceptional businesses and nonprofit organizations in North Texas for their dedication to philanthropic efforts, sustainability initiatives and corporate responsibility.
In 2014, Outside magazine called Dallas “outdoor-challenged.” That same year, Larry Dale, Rick Perdue, Joseph Pitchford, Linda Owen, Mike Terry, Philip Henderson, and I created the Circuit Trail Conservancy, now known as The Loop Dallas.
Along the way, we launched a public-private partnership with the City of Dallas, Joseph Pitchford stepped down from the board while Terrence Maiden and Vana Hammond stepped up, and Philip Hiatt Haigh was hired as executive director.
In 2023, less than 10 years after the Outside assessment, The Loop Dallas will open its first trail segment and is well on its way to connecting north, south, east, and west Dallas by trail for the first time. When complete, the 50-mile loop of trail will make Dallas more vibrant and pedestrian-friendly, create a sense of community and make abundant green space part of its identity. Dallas is making a lot of progress.
Being recognized as a finalist for Organization of the Year is possible because of the blood, sweat, tears and dedication of everyone involved in The Loop Dallas nonprofit organization. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our collaborators who have contributed their time and expertise to bring this vision to life.
Thank you for supporting The Loop Dallas!
