The Loop Dallas

ACTIVATING THE

COTTONWOOD CORRIDOR

POWERED BY THE LOOP DALLAS & BETTER BLOCK

The Loop Dallas is teaming up with Better Block and trail users to activate the Cottonwood Creek Trail, aiming to make the space more inviting, inclusive, and user friendly for all. This project is specifically addressing the section of the trail South of Forest Lane up to its connection to the Northaven and White Rock Creek Trails. This project will include both physical changes to the space as well as programming and community events!

Ongoing Programming Nov-Dec: Check back for more dates and details or follow @betterblock on social media for updates!

Bird Watching and Nature Walk: November 1st and 2nd 9:00am-10:30am: Join us and Trinity River Audubon Center for a Guided Bird Walk! We will search for birds, and identify by sight and sound, that are utilizing the various habitats along the Cottonwood Creek Trail. Limited amount of binoculars available for borrow, so bring your favorite ones if possible! Meet at the entrance to the trail in the Forest Lane DART Station parking lot. Limited spots available, sign up required here.

Volunteer workshops: Join us in Mid November for volunteer workshops to help build and install physical changes to the trail. Sign up here.

Cottonwood Creek Clean Up with Greenspace: Nov. 8 | 9:00am – 12:00pm
Join us for a community clean up at Cottonwood Creak Trail! Greenspace Dallas has been removing invasive species from this section of the Loop to create a safer and healthier space for trail users, now it is time to conduct a clean up to keep it green. Look for the Greenspace Dallas tent to get signed in as a volunteer. We will provide the trash grabbers and trash bags for you to help with our cleanup. All ages welcome. Dogs too! Sign up here.

Community Event: November 22nd!

Join us for a community event to see the trail improvements and connect with neighbors! Details coming soon.

Through this short-term activation we’ll test out new ideas for the space that reflect the needs of the community, gather feedback, and use insights from this project to inform a long-term plan.

If you are interested in being more involved, have any questions or programming ideas, or have a group that would be interested in volunteering please reach out to Meredith Jones at meredith@betterblock.org‬.
